Crosstown Traffic

I used to live in London where there is a lot of traffic. But of course most of our cabs are black so this scene is about those Big Yellow Taxis you get in New York. Don't you just love all the hustle and bustle in New York? All the swagger and attitude of the taxi drivers - I just love it!! So I painted this little watercolor. Let's call it 'Crosstown Traffic' Take it away Jimi .......

You jump in front of my car when you,
You know all the time that
Ninety miles an hour, girl, is the speed I drive
You tell me it's alright, you don't mind a little pain
You say you just want me to take you for a ride

You're just like crosstown traffic
So hard to get through to you
Crosstown traffic
I don't need to run over you
Crosstown traffic
All you do is slow me down
And I'm tryin' to get on the other side of town

I've also gotten away from the concrete jungle this week and back to nature. I did some fun Pop Art portraits I think you'll enjoy:

1. Mr Pug - available as a print here at Redbubble

2. A squirrel in my garden I call 'Cheerful Nut'

Linking up to Paint Party Friday and Illustration Friday so come join in the fun!

  1. I wish I could be in your head and look thru your eyes, and be your hand that paints like this-this illustration is amazing to me!

  10. Love them all! Do you use ink and then watercolor over it? Or watercolor first. Love the pug! Thanks for sharing on the Pet Parade!

  11. Rascal and Rocco....well for the pug I used a waterproof ink pen and then the watercolor but for the squirrel I just did a watercolor background and then used the shapes to inspire the form of the squirrel to do the pen on top.
