Cleopatra's Lookin Atcha
I am busy finishing up a bunch of pet portraits including this one. Isn't he a cute little guy?
I'm also running around like a headless chicken trying to sort myself out for Halloween. I ordered a Cleopatra costume from the internet hoping to channel my inner Elizabeth Taylor:
The costume I received is OK but the problem is the wig. When I wear it I'm not so much Elizabeth Taylor as Ru Paul!!
The wig is very CHEAP and extremely FRIZZY. I really feel for you guys and gals out there with frizzy hair. I feel your pain!
What did I do? I ironed the wig to try and get the kinks out which were standing up at right angles. First time I did this I melted the plastic hair then DUH! I realized you shouldn't do that and ironed it with a sheet on top. It still looks pretty bad.
I may or may not post photos of myself as Cleopatra. Watch this space.
Here's one:
What are you going to be for Halloween?

Your story made me laugh! Have fun at Halloween. I am going to be disguised as myself, that should fool everybody. Love the dog portrait! Happy PPF, Hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteI love, love, LOVE the drag race references - I'm going as Sharon Needles this year!
ReplyDeleteI hope you can turn the wig around, and if not just throw some glitter on it and go dancing.

I think you are going to rock the Sharon Needles look!
DeleteIf I have learnt one thing is that you can't buy cheap wigs its just do I really wanna spend loadsa dosh on a lovely wig I only wear once a year?
It would be different if I were a professional drag queen....except can women even be drag queens??? lol
What a lovely dog portrait! So cute and beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLol about your little story... hope to see pictures of you as Cleopatra!

Sweet dog ... he looks a little tentative:) Your portraits are wonderful, Emma. But, I have to agree, you need a different wig ... or maybe you could braid this one into corn rows to flatten it out and then wrap the ends with gold ribbon ... that would be very Elizabeth. I don't do Haloween anymore ... maybe I'm too old, but I think it is more that we don't go anywhere and only have a few kids in the neighborhood that trick or treat, so there isn't much chance to show off a costume. The last time I dressed up as Dolly Parton (a far cry from Elizabeth, but big boobs were easy :) Happy Halloween, Emma ... hope you get your costume right :)

So sweet dog - and not so sweet wig LOL

What a pretty portrait. Love it. As for your wig - I've a long witch type one which arrived a few days ago - I haven't even taken it out of the bag. I'm hoping it works lol #pocolo

I might be brave enough to post a pic. The black wig drains all the color out of my face...and I look like hell!
DeleteOh my goodness-what a super cute pup. Your painting is fabulous! I think that little dog was up to something, not yest discovered by his owners! Hope you end up getting your costume to be more Elizabeth Taylor like!
