Summer Bouquet, watercolor by Emma Kaufmann |
Hello it is five days since my last meeting.
I find it hard to not look at something and wonder how it would look rendered in watercolor!
I can't resist buying watercolors.
I have A LOT of pads of watercolor paper.
I want to give it up......I just can't!
I'm a Watercolor Addict
I don't know when I became a watercolor addict...probably about five years ago. There is something so seductive about the way watercolor bleeds and runs across the paper. Some people are scared of it because it often doesn't do what you want it to do....but I don't care! That's what I love about it.
So hurrah July is World Watercolor Month and I am going to try to do a watercolor painting a day.....not sure I will manage it but I will give it a jolly good go.
Many moons ago I worked in oils but I just can't cope with them. I am too impatient. I can't wait for all those layers to dry and things would just turn all beige and grey. With watercolor it dries very fast, well it does here anyway as it is boiling hot.
Do you love watercolor as much as I do? Do join in on the Facebook page.
Happy Friday everyone!

Lovely flowers, Though not an addicted watercolor lover (I prefer pencil) I am going to try the World Watercolor Month challenge. Luck to us both
ReplyDeleteYes, I love how watercolor bleeds and runs and creates textures that I could never come up with on my own. My biggest challenge with watercolor is mud... so often, in trying to get a deeper value, I create this dead muddy "ugh" from too may colors running together. Your flowers are beautiful - especially love the flow in the vase!
ReplyDeletesuch a beautiful, vibrant bouquet! Although I try , I am not addicted to watercolors but AM addicted to acrylics and cold wax.
ReplyDeleteWhy would you want to give it up? Your painting looks great! Love the vibrancy!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful... I love acrylics...I am trying some watercolour...but I'm not addicted yet!!

You've used watercolour fabulously here, such intense colours you've created.
ReplyDeleteI think part of the charm of watercolour is that it sometimes does what it wants to do, which can produce delightful surprises.
I have never done watercolor. But I like what you are doing. I think it is great we do different things. Gives more to be inspired of.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful bouquet Emma... it's so vibrant. I'm a huge fan of watercolours too. As I began reading your post I thought... oh I must mention the watercolour month, but silly me, I should have known that you'd know about it already with being such a fan.
ReplyDeleteI wish you a wonderful creative week ahead.
Everything in the painting seems to be swirling upward. Very Nice.
ReplyDeleteI love the rainbow of colors flowing from the gorgeous floral you created. I love watercolors too, but like to play with other media too, except for oils. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and radiant...such gorgeous colors!

Beautiful colors!!! I don't paint with watercolors...however I enjoy seeing work with water and cannot imagine how everyone works with it...lol. Very difficult medium!!
ReplyDeleteThis is a gorgeous painting. I could have been the author of your post. I used to work in oils, but I find watercolors so much freer. I also like the serendipity-ness of painting with watercolors.
ReplyDeleteSuch vivid and pretty colors. This is beautiful. It is fun to learn this is Watercolor Month. I adore them. They are heavenly...my preference. Genie
ReplyDeleteHello Emma, first things first: My apologies for visiting your entry on my sARTurday linkup so late. I guess there is a reason I am pausing it for summer :) Your watercolor picture is beautiful, such color and liveliness. I am not a watercolor addict, however I seem to be unable to stop buying more and more art supplies - does that count? :) Happy Sunday!
