Mystic Cat

Well last week I was salivating in anticipation about the bacon festival if you recall. It turned out to be one popular event. Bacon fanatics of every description were there, and the queues for nibbles were LONG! I did manage to get my mitts on some fabulous bacon-delicacies though including bacon popcorn. We were relaxing by the habor, arteries were clogging from bacon fat, copious amounts of alcohol were flowing and the sun was shining! All was well in my world.

Then yesterday things went haywire and we ended up having some pretty scary flash floods....will this crazy weather never end?

Through it all I was working on a cat portrait for a friend in pastel. I was feeling a bit mystical, listening to Van Morrison, and so my art started going into another direction. I feel I was channelling Van Gogh a little, as well as Van the Man. I have been crazy about Van Morrison ever since I was a teenager and was going through my hippie phase, where I would walk around barefoot in the park ..... and did all sorts of crazy things that are lost in the mists of time......

Let me know how you like my cat portrait. I'll leave you with Van Morrison .....

  2. Well - aren't all cats mystical? (as in a bit strange in their behavior). Love your swirly pastel work. And yes - bacon love has come out into the open. You no longer have to feel shame at loving that yummy, fatty, greasy, totally delicious stuff! The weather seems to be doing the crazy dance everywhere - 15.55 inches on rain in Pensacola Florida the other day.

  8. The expression on your lovely cat's face is priceless and so common among cats, but never dogs. I love the swirly background that emphasizes the swishy tail.

  10. I'm a vegetarian and have been for 10 years. Bacon is the only meat the either sounds or smells good to me, and bacon popcorn?! Wow! Yum! I am sorry the weather turned on you. The cat looks fantastic. I love the way the pinks "reflect" in the fur.
