Summertime Blues

For any of you residing in the UK who think the school holidays are going on for too long then please give some thought to us poor moms in USA. We have three months. YES I SAID THREE MONTHS of summer holidays. There are only so many camps the kids can go to before the coffers run dry and mother starts to go slowly insane.....

I think the reasoning behind the three month holiday is because in many parts of the USA it is boiling hot and kids without air con would melt into their desks. So I understand it I just think they should have year round school with a week off every month or something like that.

I had a good laugh at this blog post by Hurrah for Gin called How to Lazily Entertain Your Kids this Summer and it made me wish my kids were small and could spend seven hours a day with a watering can and a paddling pool rather than an ipad and cooking a cake while leaving sixteen pans for me to clean up.

But look at that post for some great tips- it is really rather hilarious!

So yes, I have been going dotty....I have been seeing spots in front of my eyes. Yes I am channeling Seurat and just started dotting around until I made this cute little polka dot fox.

My little fox is available at BoomBoomPrints which is a really fun company that creates art and clothes for little ones. The guys and gals at BoomBoom are really cool and friendly so I'd recommend them if you've ever wanted to see your art emblazoned on a t-shirt or tote bag.

  1. No little ones left..the oldest grandchild is 30 and the youngest 2 so we span many years of little ones. I do miss some of those days when they were all small.

    Your polkadot fox is charming,

  2. Love your dottie fox in all variations, beautiful! I can imagine how hard those three months are! I was a teacher for 35 years so enjoyed the summer vacations! Hugs, Valerie

  3. Love the fox print on the bag. Looks fabulous!

I agree about summer holidays. Way too long. I've had my daughter in art camp for 3 weeks and it's cost me a small fortune. The rest of the summer isn't quite as exciting for her. It's a long time to wait to go back to school.

  5. I love your dotted fox. He's so colorful and friendly. In Georgia this year everyone has already gone back to school. It's been a short summer for the kids here. When I was still teaching I loved it when we had a shorter summer and then several breaks during the year. It was a win-win for everyone.

  6. Adorable little fox. I was the one mom who hated when my daughter went back to school. The routine cramped my style...lol Of course it was only two months here in Canada though. I imagine one might go nuts after three months though! Love the comics!!

  7. I grew up in the states and loved having three months off. But being a UK mum, I am so happy that the summer holidays are only six weeks! I love your fox. #streetstylesunday

  8. Your little fox is gorgeous, Emma. I am all for 12 month schools. I think it would keep more kids out of mischief plus we might just catch up with the rest of civilization in math and science. Even as a child I thought the summer vacation was too long. I loved going to school.

  11. The dotty fox is brilliant! I'm lucky that my daughter is not even two yet, me and my partner have about a few years until we need to really start entertaining her with more than an empty cardboard box (which she loves) and a box full of tiny plastic horses! :)

  13. It's just the expense that gets to me, love the time spent with my little boy, but need a second mortgage - especially when it rains.
