Does Coffee Improve Memory?

Hello Peeps!

I have been busy painting this adorable little bunny which will be available printed on some products over at Bohemian Coffee Club in a few weeks.

I met a woman at the gym today who I have known on and off for sixteen years. That was at 9.30. We talked a bit about how she was determined to lose 15 lb pounds and I wished her the best of luck. Then I went swimming. I went up and down for an hour and tried to remember what this woman was called.

It was on the tip of my tongue. I knew her name started with N or maybe M. Then there was a bit of drama I think a woman fainted or twisted her leg and was lying at the side of the pool. Then I trod water while I watched the paramedics come and take this woman to hospital in the ambulance.

Then I swam a bit more and tried to remember my friend's name. Nada. Nothing.

Then I went home and ate some friend mushrooms.

It is now 1.20 and I have just remembered this woman's name! It does start with N. Nicola. I think it was the grease in the friend mushrooms that kick started the old grey matter. I am 46. Honestly I didn't think my brain was going to pack up this early in the game. I am wondering what will exercise my brain?

I have heard coffee improves your memory. Is that true? I must say I do love the stuff and my memory is shot to pieces so who knows? I also did a coffee art piece called COFFEE SPLASH which describes my feelings about the invigorating power of Java.

You can buy prints of COFFEE SPLASH over at CURIOOS.

  3. Really lovely artwork (and such a clever way to share it as well!).. Does coffee improve memory? I don't know, but I drink the stuff anyway! Let's hope it does!

  4. Stunning piece. I think of you every day when I look at your beautiful cushions! Coffee makes me anxious so I mostly stay away from it. I read it's great for your hair recently x

    1. I am so glad that you are still enjoying the cushions. I don't know what I would do without coffee.....but you are strong to keep away from it if it does bad things to you. xx

  6. Love your bunny, and those coffee pieces are wonderful. I'm not sure if it improves the memory though. I drink gallons of the stuff and sometimes I can't even remember what day it is.

  7. Your colorful bunny and your coffee cup are both beautiful paintings. I wonder if it is all the info we are constantly bombarded with that causes that type of memory hiccup. I have it often but then I am an old woman. However, I have noticed that my young friends have the same thing. You are not alone, for sure.

  8. First off I love this coffee art piece. I love coffee too but not the mixed coffees I want mine pure and black. Now my daughter and I have had this conversation about forgetting. We have come to the conclusion that it is the additives and preservatives in our foods. People from every age group have poor memory. That's my opinion. LOL

  10. So I had to chuckle about the mushrooms...they really are friendly...but I was thinking they may be different mushrooms if you know what I mean! As for the memory thing...trust me on this...it's peri menopause that does it...might take several years but memory does come back. Thankfully I had an older friend who I tuned me in, because you start thinking you're losing it!! Just embrace it and laugh...but always keep your keys in the same place...trust me on that one!! Love your gorgeous bunny and stunning coffee cup!!

    Hugs Giggles

  12. Your coffee splash is awesome! As is your bunny, love seeing your creative process. Are you working with India inks? No matter, your work is gorgeous.

  13. The coffee splash is fab! and I don't even like coffee, don't drink it, never did, never will. Don't worry about forgetting the acquaintance's name. Your brain has not packed up and gone anywhere, not with work like you put out. No way.

  14. I love both pieces, so creative! Here's to our memory!

  15. I just love that coffee splash! So cute! As for memory, most likely that annoying peri menopause kicking in. I've had it too. It's driving me nuts. I hope Giggles is right and it disappears in a few years :)

  16. This is such a cute bunny! I love the colors and the technique you used. I also had to laugh while reading your text. My old grey matter works similar like yours :) I'm sure coffee improves memory so I'm drinking a lot. ;)

  18. I may have to drink more coffee! At 57, my memory is awful. Something similar happened to me this week. She knew my name, I couldn't for the life of me remember hers. I discreetly turned to another friend and said -- "help! remind me her name!" Fortunately my friend's memory was working that day!! :)
